Florida Man Goes Fishing And Catches A Kilo Of Marijuana. Calls It “An Early Birthday Gift From Pablo Escobar”
He was trolling along the weedline and discovered something fishy.
Jorge Bustamante was looking for king fish or mahi mahi off Pompano Beach Monday but found a marijuana brick instead.
South Floridians have a name for his unusual but not unheard of type of find: Square grouper.
In a series of social media postings on Instagram, Bustamante and those with him posed for pictures with the tightly wrapped square.
Bustamante notified the Coast Guard and, in his posting, said the personnel who arrived on scene confirmed that it was, in fact, marijuana. He turned his find over to the agency.
It’s not known where the estimated kilogram of marijuana came from or how long it had been floating in the ocean.
On Instagram, Bustamate joked that his find was “an early birthday gift from Pablo Escobar.”
